Amid all the turmoil and confusion over fungus limits in wheat shipments, Egypt says the country has enough strategic wheat reserves to last until the start of June. Attention to its reserve supplies was heightened by its struggles to secure grain after the country rejected wheat shipments due to the presence of the fungus ergot. Egypt also made contradictory statements regarding its tolerance level for the fungus. It has since clarified that its regulators would allow shipments to contain up to 0.05 percent of the fungus. Pro Farmers First Thing Today reports while bids have been scarce at its tenders and traders have added risk premium to prices, Egypt did purchase 240,000 metric tons of wheat from France and Russia on Friday.
