Pro Farmers First Thing Today reports traders and merchandisers expect CME Group to confirm quality problems with U.S. wheat supplies. That comes amid reports of plant fungus in grain delivered against CME futures contracts. This week the exchange said it would begin publishing information on the levels of the fungus vomitoxin that are listed on receipts for wheat deliveries, starting with the March 2016 contract. Some U.S. Soft Red Winter wheat has elevated vomitoxin levels this year after rains encouraged the growth of the fungus in Midwest crops the past two years. Most exporters and millers require wheat have a vomitoxin level of two parts per million or less. CME discounts wheat with higher vomitoxin levels that is delivered against futures and wheat with more than four parts per million are ineligible for delivery.
