Strategie Grains Cuts French Wheat Harvest Forecast

(Dow Jones) -- Crop consultancy Strategie Grains has cut its forecast for French soft wheat production, reflecting the damage wrought by heavy floods in June.
Strategie Grains now expects the 2016 crop to total between 29.5 and 30 million metric tons, President Andree Defois said on Monday.
In late July, Strategie Grains had predicted a French crop of 32.4 million tons. France produced 40.6 million tons in 2015.
The French farm ministry Friday cut its own forecast to 29.1 million tons from 37 million tons last month, lowering its yield forecast from 5.57 tons per hectare from 7.07 t/h.
