U.S. Corn and Wheat Export Sales Jump as Soybean Sales Decline

U.S. corn and wheat export sales increased sharply during the latest reporting week, while soybean sales declined despite continued purchases by China. The Agriculture Department reported corn export sales of 769,500 metric tons for the week ending Oct. 1, up 44% from the previous week and 28% above the four-week average. Mexico led corn purchases with 508,800 metric tons, followed by Colombia and Japan. Wheat export sales climbed 56% to 451,600 metric tons. Major buyers included the Philippines, South Korea, Bangladesh and Japan. Soybean sales fell 47% to 549,400 metric tons, according to USDA figures cited by Successful Farming. China purchased 382,900 metric tons of soybeans, while Mexico bought 139,800 tons. The soybean total was reduced by the cancellation of 385,200 metric tons in previously reported sales to an unidentified destination. Export demand remains a critical factor for grain prices as American farmers continue harvesting their 2026 crops.
