Idaho has reclaimed the Guinness World Record for the world's largest serving of French fries, producing nearly 1,500 pounds of fries during Boise Potato Days over the weekend. The Idaho Potato Commission and Spud Daddy teamed up to transform 1,700 pounds of Idaho-grown potatoes into 1,474 pounds of fresh-cut fries, surpassing the previous record established in India in 2018. Idaho originally held the record in 2014 before losing the title to Greece and later India. According to the Idaho Potato Commission, the record-breaking effort required six fryers and approximately 50 workers to prepare and cook the massive serving. Following the official weigh-in, the fries were distributed free to festival attendees. Guinness World Records recognition is highly competitive. According to a report by CBS News' "60 Minutes," the organization receives approximately 50,000 record applications annually, with as many as 95% rejected. The achievement returns the French fry title to America's leading potato-producing state.
