(Dow Jones) -- Delaware Gov. John Carney asked
EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt to grant a waiver to Delaware refiners
from their renewable fuel quotas. In a letter, Carney said the high cost
of renewable identification numbers--or RINs--will "severely harm"
Delaware in 2018. RINs are compliance credits refiners must purchase if
they don't add ethanol to fuel. Carney said the price of RINs has
increased by 200%. "The sharp and significant increases in costs to the
refinery industry will directly lead to devastating job losses in
Delaware and throughout the region."
