Canada Oil Industry Hamstrung by Regulations

(Dow Jones) -- The Trump administration has rolled back many burdensome US oil industry regulations, but in Canada regulations are still causing migraines. And that's helping fuel real-world problems for Canada whose benchmark WCS oil is in a major slump. "Virtually every plan to add new takeaway capacity out of Alberta - Canada's #1 energy-producing province - continues to face regulatory hurdles, and it remains to be seen which of the pipeline projects will be completed, and when," says RBN Energy. It adds that "pipeline constraints out of Western Canada [are] worsening by the month and having profound negative effects on the price of Western Canadian Select (WCS)."
