Winter Wheat
Based on July 1, 2016 conditions, production of winter wheat in Idaho is forecast at 61.9 million bushels, up 5 percent from the June 1 forecast and up 8 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 720,000 acres, are up 20,000 acres from 2015. Yield is expected to be 86.0 bushels per acre, up 4.0 bushels from 2015. Oregon winter wheat production is forecast at 43.0 million bushels, up 1 percent from last month and up 24 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 705,000 acres, are down 30,000 acres from 2015. Yield is expected to be 61.0 bushels per acre, up 14.0 bushels from the previous year. Washington winter wheat production is forecast at 112 million bushels, up 4 percent from last month and up 26 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 1.67 million acres, are up 80,000 acres from 2015. Yield is expected to be 67.0 bushels per acre, up 11.0 bushels from the previous year.
Spring Wheat
Idaho spring wheat production is forecast at 33.0 million bushels, up 11 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 440,000, are up 15,000 acres from 2015. Yield is expected to be 75.0 bushels per acre, up 5.0 bushels from 2015. Oregon spring wheat production is forecast at 5.68 million bushels, up 22 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 98,000 acres, are up 5,000 acres from 2015. Yield is expected to be 58.0 bushels per acre, up 8.0 bushels from the previous year. Washington spring wheat production is forecast at 24.8 million bushels, up 10 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 540,000 acres, are down 85,000 acres from 2015. Barley
Idaho barley production is forecast at 53.2 million bushels, down slightly from last year. Harvested area, at 560,000, are up 10,000 acres from 2015. Yield is expected to be 95.0 bushels per acre, down 2.0 bushels from 2015. Washington barley production is forecast at 7.26 million bushels, up 51 percent from last year. Harvested acres, at 110,000 area, are up 10,000 acres from 2015. Yield is expected to be 66.0 bushels per acre, up 18.0 bushels from the previous year.
Oats
Idaho oat production is forecast at 1.32 million bushels, up 2 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 15,000 acres, are unchanged from 2015. Yield is expected to be 88.0 bushels per acre, up 2.0 bushels from 2015. Oregon oat production is forecast at 1.24 million bushels, up 28 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 13,000 acres, are up 2,000 acres from 2015. Yield is expected to be 95.0 bushels per acre, up 7.0 bushels from the previous year.
