An agriculture official in Russia expects the country to begin shipping China "significant" amounts of wheat in the fall when the new-crop is harvested. Last year, Russia shipped around 470,000 metric tons of grain to China. This year, Pro Farmer reports the country has exported China more than 320,000 metric tons of grain and grain legume crops, and Russia could ship China between 650,000 and 700,000 metric tons for the year if the trend continues. Russia’s Ag Ministry says development of transportation infrastructure is key to increasing the grain shipments and notes that two such projects are currently being implemented. Meanwhile, Ukraine's Ag Ministry expects the country to export 35.33 million metric tons of grain during the 2016-17 marketing year, including 11.64 million metric tons of wheat.
