The U.S. will conduct investigations into fertilizer imports to determine whether producers of phosphate fertilizers in Morocco and Russia are receiving unfair subsidies, according to a Commerce Department statement.
Morocco and Russia both have eight alleged subsidy programs. The investigations are based on petitions by The Mosaic Company.
In 2019, imports of the fertilizer from Morocco were valued at $729.4 million; imports of fertilizer from Russia were valued at $299.4 million.
The International Trade Commission will make preliminary determinations by August 10; final determinations are scheduled for December 7.
