Idaho Beef Council Elects FY 2018 Officers  

Boise, ID (June 01, 2017) –   Idaho Beef Producers Lou Murgoitio, Boise, Idaho, Jeff Johnson, Boise, Idaho and Trish Dowton, Ellis, Idaho, were named to leadership positions at the May 18th and 19th Idaho Beef Council (IBC) meeting held in Boise, ID.  Murgoitio, Johnson and Dowton are volunteer leaders and will hold these positions for fiscal year 2018.  Their responsibilities include setting IBC’s priorities and providing direction for the spending of Idaho Checkoff dollars in order to maintain and build consumer demand for beef through support of integrated state, national and international programs.   Murgoitio, elected Chairman of the IBC, is a dairy farmer from Boise, Idaho and represents the dairy industry.  Johnson, elected Vice-Chairman, is a cattle feeder from Parma, Idaho and represents the feeder industry.   Dowton, elected Secretary/Treasurer, is a cow/calf rancher from Ellis, Idaho and represents the Idaho Cattle Association (ICA) Cattlewomen and the cow/calf industry.   The IBC board also welcomed two new incoming board members, Lee Bradshaw and Bill Lickley. Bradshaw is a feeder from Caldwell, Idaho and replaces Scott McNeley, a feeder from Grandview, Idaho, Idaho who completed his allowable two terms. Lickley is a cow/calf rancher from Jerome, Idaho and replaces Morgan Evans, a cow/calf representative from Downey, Idaho who also completed his two allowable terms.   The IBC Board of Directors is an eight-member board with representatives from the cow/calf industry, dairy industry, feeder industry and Idaho’s auction markets.  These representatives are peer nominated and Governor appointed and serve three-year terms.
