JBS in Brazil will start importing premium fresh beef cuts from the United States

JBS in Brazil will start importing premium fresh beef cuts from the United States, the company announced. JBS wants to expand its portfolio of special cuts of beef in Brazil by importing from countries where it has operations, including the U.S. and Australia. The approval of fresh beef trade between Brazil and the U.S. in July motivated the company to begin such imports.“We sent a product development team to our plant in Colorado to determine which cuts and formats would be most appropriate for consumption in Brazil,” said Artêmio Listoni, director of sales at JBS Beef, via press statement.According to JBS, there is growing demand from Brazilian consumers for premium products, especially the ones used in the Brazilian traditional barbecue style, churrasco.“Brazil is the third-largest beef consumer market in the world, alongside the European Union and China, and there is still plenty of room for premium fresh beef,” Listoni said.JBS in Brazil already imports about 2,000 metric tons of food per month, including meats, vegetables and fish, to supply to retail and food service segments.
