“Race for the Steaks” 5K and 15K Run

Boise, ID (September 26, 2016) – The Idaho Beef Council is excited to announce the third annual Race for the Steaks 5K and 15K on Saturday, October 8th. The race is presented by the Idaho Beef Council and is in partnership with the Boise YMCA.

Race for the Steaks is a running and walking event featuring a unique evening start of 4:30 p.m. for both distances and a full tri-tip dinner for all participants. The run begins and ends in Ann Morrison Park and participants can plan to enjoy a beautiful fall evening along the Boise River and Boise Greenbelt.

New this year is a Run with Herbie Kid’s Race. Kids nine and under are invited to run in a special short-distance run with Herbie the Hamburger. The run with Herbie is free and kicks off at 4:15 p.m. The race is approximately 300 meters and is held exclusively in the park. Registration for this race is only available to children of a paid adult participant. Kids must be pre-registered for the event. The Run with Herbie race is not timed and results will not be posted. It is all about the fun and each participant will receive a goodie bag.

The Idaho Beef Council is also excited to announce that Lance Pekus, the Cowboy Ninja from American Ninja Warrior, will be participating. The Cowboy Ninja will be available for photographs, autographs and to chat about what fuels a ninja with other racegoers after the 15K. Do you think you can beat the Cowboy Ninja? We challenge you to sign up and race him.

Race for the Steaks is open to all athletes age 10 and up. The cost to participate in the event is $30 for youth and $35 for adults. In addition to the dinner, participants will also receive an official Race for the Steaks running shirt. Dinner tickets for spectators can be purchased for $12.
