India Eyeing China Market For Cotton In Wake Of Potential China Duties On US Cotton

India is monitoring the US-China trade situation and is seeing potential for India to boost cotton shipments to China in the event the situation devolves into a trade war between the two countries, an official with the Cotton Association of India told Reuters.
"China's move to impose duty on U.S. cotton shipments will help us," Atul Ganatra, president of the Cotton Association of India, told Reuters. India is hoping sales of the fiber will total 2.5 million to 3 million 170-kilogram bales to China for 2018/19, up from around 800,000 tonnes for 2017/18, he said.
