Brazil's 2017-2018 Soybean, Corn Crops Looking Ever Better

(Dow Jones) -- Consultancy INTL FC Stone increased its forecasts for Brazil's 2017-2018 soybean and corn harvests as good weather has helped crop development. The group raised its forecast for the soybean harvest to 111.1 million metric tons, from 110.1 million tons, and increased its expectation for the first corn crop of the season to 23.9 million tons from 23.4 million tons. INTL FC Stone left its forecast for the second corn crop of the season unchanged at 63.2 million tons, for a total of 87.1 million tons. Even with the increased forecasts, analyst Ana Luiza Lodi said she still has concerns about dry weather in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and rain in Mato Grosso state, which has impeded the harvesting in some areas.
