Farm Bill Listening Session at Farm Progress Show
The House Agriculture Committee held a Farm Bill listening session at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur (Deh-Kay’-tuhr), Illinois, this week. Committee Chair Michael Conaway and Ranking Member Collin Peterson, along with committee members, took input from producers and others attending the show. Conaway says the Farm Progress Show brings in producers and other industry stakeholders from all parts of the country. “That means there’s no better place to gather insight and feedback about the challenges facing farm country and how we can improve ag policy for the next Farm Bill than in Decatur. Conaway says he was grateful for the heartfelt input from so many people from different parts of the country. Peterson says the session was part of the continuing effort by the committee to hear directly from varied interests across all regions of the country who are affected by the Farm Bill. Peterson says, “The committee will take this information back to Washington, D.C., and use it to help us write a Farm Bill that addresses current challenges in farm country.”
