Corn Based on September 1, 2017 conditions, production of corn for grain production in Idaho is forecast at 18.5 million bushels, down 2 percent from 2016. Harvested area, at 90,000 acres, is down 10,000 acres from 2016. Yield is expected to be 205.0 bushels per acre, up 5.0 bushels from August 1, 2017 and up 17.0 bushels from 2016. Corn for grain production in Washington is forecast at 19.6 million bushels, down 2 percent from the August 1 forecast and down 2 percent from 2016. Harvested area, at 85,000 acres, is unchanged from 2016. Yield is expected to be 230.0 bushels per acre, up 10.0 bushels from August 1, 2017, but down 5 bushels from 2016 Sugarbeets Idaho sugarbeet production is forecast at 6.95 million tons, down 1 percent from 2016 production. Harvested area, at 167,000 acres, is down 3,000 acres from 2016. Yield is expected to be 41.6 tons per acre, down 0.3 tons from August 1, 2017, but up 0.2 ton from 2016. Oregon sugarbeet production is forecast at 351,000 tons, down 18 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 8,800 acres, is down 1,400 acres from 2016. Yield is expected to be 39.9 tons per acre, unchanged from August 1, 2017 yield, but down 2.1 ton from 2016. Washington sugarbeet production is forecast at 85,000 tons, down 7 percent from 2016 production. Harvested area, at 1,800 acres, is down 100 acres from 2016. Yield is expected to be 47.4 tons per acre, unchanged tons from August 1, 2017, but down 0.2 ton from 2016. Dry Edible Peas Idaho dry edible pea production is forecast at 408,000 cwt, down 42 percent from 2016 production. Harvested area, at 24,000 acres, is down 4,000 acres from 2016. Yield is expected to be 1,700 pounds per acre, down 800 pounds from 2016. Oregon dry edible pea production is forecast at 197,000 cwt, up 30 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 9,400 acres, is up 3,600 acres from 2016. Yield is expected to be 2,100 pounds per acre, down 500 pounds from the 2016 yield. Washington dry edible pea production is forecast at 1.24 million cwt, down 42 percent from 2016 production. Harvested area, at 59,000 acres, is down 30,000 acres from 2016. Yield is expected to be 2,100 pounds per acre, down 300 pounds from 2016.
