All Wheat Stocks Stored in Northwest Region Up 25 Percent from September 1, 2015


All wheat stored in all positions on September 1, 2016 totaled 82.3 million bushels in Idaho, up from 64.1 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 50 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 4 percent compared to the previous year. In Oregon, wheat stored in all positions totaled 39.5 million bushels, up from 35.6 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down slightly, while on-farm stocks were up 57 percent compared to the previous year. In Washington, wheat stored in all positions totaled 160 million bushels, up from 126 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 27 percent, while on-farm stocks were up 28 percent compared to the previous year. Nationally, wheat stored in all positions totaled 2.53 billion bushels, up from 2.10 billion bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 24 percent, while on-farm stocks were up 12 percent compared to the previous year

Barley stocks in all positions on September 1, 2016 totaled 59.6 million bushels in Idaho, up from 48.1 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 50 percent, while on-farm stocks were up 8 percent compared to the previous year. In Oregon, barley stored in all positions totaled 1.86 million bushels, up from 1.74 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 3 percent, while on-farm stocks were up 10 percent compared to the previous year. In Washington, barley stored in all positions totaled 7.58 million bushels, up from 5.47 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 9 percent, while on-farm stocks were up 213 percent compared to the previous year. Nationally, barley stored in all positions totaled 230 million bushels, up from 219 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 20 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 4 percent compared to the previous year.

Oats stored in off-farm locations on September 1, 2016 totaled 298,000 bushels in Idaho, up from 138,000 bushels a year ago. In Oregon, oats stored in off-farm locations totaled 395,000 bushels, down from 535,000 bushels a year ago. In Washington, oats stored in off-farm locations totaled 82,000 bushels, up from 56,000 bushels the previous year. Nationally, oats stored in all positions totaled 78.7 million bushels, down from 93.9 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 10 percent, while on-farm stocks were down 22 percent compared to the previous year.

Corn stored in off-farm locations on September 1, 2016 totaled 2.79 million bushels in Idaho, down from 2.94 million bushels a year ago. In Washington, corn stored in off-farm locations totaled 9.88 million bushels, up from 6.77 million bushels a year ago. Nationally, corn stored in all positions totaled 1.74 billion bushels, up from 1.73 billion bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 2 percent, while on-farm stocks were up 6 percent compared to the previous year.
