BLM's count of wild horses in Idaho finds reproduction rates slowing

The Feb. 23 count of the wild horses roaming the Challis Herd Management Area in Idaho revealed a raw count of 225 adult horses and 15 foals, just slightly more than the 203 adult horses in the 2014 count. Kevin Lloyd, wild horse specialist with the BLM’s Challis Field Office, said the slowing reproduction rate of the herd indicates fertility controls begun on the herd in 2004 appears to be working
