EPA Acting Admin Wheeler Attends Iowa Roundtable

Acting Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Andrew Wheeler earlier this week joined Iowa commodity groups in a roundtable discussion at the Iowa State Fair. Hosted by Iowa Congressman David Young and Governor Kim Reynolds, Wheeler heard from Iowa farmers and producers on the Renewable Fuel Standard, Waters of the U.S., and other environmental issues. Congressmen Young says Wheeler was “willing to listen to everyone, be transparent, and is committed to making sure policy is done with stakeholder input.” Wheeler told reporters his goal is to provide more certainty to farmers on issues regarding the RFS. He called the RFS an important program “for the entire country,” and touted the EPA’s action to deliver RVO numbers on time under the Trump administration. Wheeler said the EPA is “looking” at the small refinery waivers, to provide “more certainty” to agriculture, but didn’t offer any details on what action the EPA may take.
