Lawmakers Want Drought Aid for Their Farmers and Ranchers

Sens. Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran and Rep. Roger Marshall, all Kansas Republicans, sent a letter Friday to USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue, thanking him for the assistance already being provided in the form of FSA loans, but also asking for additional aid.Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer, a Republican, has already declared drought in all 105 counties in the state. Lawmakers are asking Perdue to allow for emergency haying and grazing of Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres.
