Lodgepole fire Montana’s largest since 1910
The drought has fueled the 423-square-mile Lodgepole complex fire, currently the country’s largest, roughly one-third the size of Rhode Island. The National Interagency Fire Center announced that it’s the largest fire in Montana since the historic 1910 fires. The state’s burning through its $63 million firefighting fund at a rate of $1.5 million a day, with only $12 million remaining.
