MGGA Applauds Daines' Appointment to Senate Ag Committee

Great Falls – The Montana Grain Growers Association (MGGA) is thrilled that Montana Senator Steve Daines has been appointed to serve on the Senate Ag Committee in the 115th US Congress. MGGA President Tom Butcher, a grain producer from Lewistown, congratulated the Senator on his appointment. “Steve is a wonderful advocate for Montana agriculture. I look forward to working with him in this new leadership position.” Daines is a strong proponent of Montana production agriculture and has supported wheat and barley growers through strategic opportunities on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture and the Senate Commerce Committee. He has routinely reached out to MGGA for input on trade, transportation, food safety and regulatory issues. Early last year, MGGA presented Steve with a Wheat Advocate Award, given annually by the National Association of Wheat Growers to members of Congress who have shown outstanding support of the wheat industry. Lyle Benjamin, MGGA Treasurer from Sunburst, added, “Senator Daines has done a terrific job for Montana, and for agriculture specifically. His well rounded leadership will be an important addition to the Senate Ag Committee as work on the new farm bill accelerates.”
