UAS Registration Considered Positive for Agriculture

Kansas State University says the nation’s drones, or unmanned aerial systems registration, should be considered a step in the right direction for safe UAS operations on the farm. According to the University, the registration that opened last month helps draw attention to critical protocols for conducting safe flight operations. Most users of drones can register online at www dot faa dot gov (www.faa.gov), but must do so before January 20th to have the $5 registration fee refunded. Kansas State University says in regards to the regulations that, just as vehicle owners recognize the motto “share the road,” UAS operators should also recognize we need to “share the sky.” The University says “the FAA is providing valuable resources, guidance, and regulations to help ensure the positive impacts and experiences of UAS on agriculture as interest in this use continues to grow.”
