All Wheat Acres Planted in the Northwest down 1 percent from 2016 Barley Acres Planted in the Northwest up 9 percent from Last Year Corn Acres Planted in the Northwest down 3 percent from 2016 All Hay Acres Harvested in the Northwest up 1 percent from Last Year Wheat producers in Idaho, expect to plant 1.175 million acres of wheat for harvest this year, down slightly from 2016. Winter wheat acres planted are estimated at 730,000 acres, down 4 percent from last year. Planted acres of Durum wheat in Idaho, are estimated at 15,000 for 2017, up 50 percent from the previous year. Spring wheat planted acres, excluding Durum, are expected to total 430,000 acres, up 5 percent from last year. Total acres planted to wheat in Oregon are estimated at 780,000 acres for 2017, down 4 percent from 2016. Winter wheat accounted for 710,000 acres, down 1 percent from 2016. Other spring wheat planted is estimated at 70,000 acres, down 22 percent from a year ago. Washington is estimated to have 2.25 million total acres planted to wheat in 2017, up slightly from last year. Winter wheat planted acres are expected to total 1.70 million acres for this year, unchanged from 2016. Spring wheat acres planted are estimated at 550 thousand acres, up 2 percent from last year. Nationally, all planted wheat acres are expected to total 46.1 million acres, down 8 percent from 2016. Winter wheat acres are estimated at 32.7 million acres, down 9 percent from 2016. Durum wheat planted acres in the United States for 2017 are estimated at 2.00 million acres, down 17 percent from the previous year. All other spring wheat is estimated at 11.3 million planted acres, down 3 percent from 2016. Acres planted to barley in Idaho for 2017 are estimated at 630,000 acres, up 5 percent from 2016. Oregon barley growers are expected to seed 50,000 acres, up 11 percent from last year. In Washington, acres planted to barley are estimated at 145,000 acres, up 32 percent from the previous year. Total barley planted acres in the United States is estimated at 2.55 million acres for 2017, down 17 percent from 2016. Corn planted acres in Idaho are expected to total 320,000 acres for 2017, down 6 percent from last year. Oregon is estimated to plant 90,000 acres, up 13 percent from 2016. Washington corn growers are expected to plant 160,000 acres this year, down 6 percent from the previous year. Total acres of corn planted in the United States are expected to total 90.0 million acres, down 4 percent from last year All hay acres expected to be harvested in Idaho are estimated at 1.36 million acres, up 2 percent from 2016. In Oregon, all acres to be harvested for hay are estimated at 1.11 million acres, down 2 percent from a year ago. All hay harvested acres in Washington is expected to be 860,000 acres up 2 percent from last year. Nationally, total acres harvested for hay is estimated at 52.8 million acres, down 1 percent from the previous year.
