Longtime Independent Meat Co. owner Otto Florence Jr. has died at the age of 92, according to a local media report."My father was a man with a capital M," his son and now sole business owner Patrick Florence was quoted as saying. "He was large in stature — 6 feet 5 inches tall. He had a natural ability to lead, and people had a natural propensity to follow."Around 1925, Otto Florence Sr. started working as a foreman at Independent Meat Co., reportedly one of the oldest businesses in Twin Falls County, Idaho.A few years later Otto Sr. bought a one-third interest in the business, and by 1945 he and sons Otto, Ted and Frank owned 100 percent of the company.Otto Jr.’s sons Patrick and John Francis (Franny) bought out their father and uncles in 1983.
