(Dow Jones) -- Global dairy production is expected to pick up with milk production in Europe rising gradually in response to higher domestic prices, while domestic demand will drive increases in India and China, according to BMI Research in a note. Government reforms in China have reduced local grain prices and are encouraging the consolidation of dairy farms, a factor that will increase yields and profitability over the coming years, it adds. BMI expects Chinese production growth of 5% in 2018.
